FAQ > ADE > What type of encoder is the ADEĀ®? How does it work?
Search the FAQ for entries containing:
The ADE is a position-based encoder that senses the position of each number wheel to determine the reading for touch and AMR systems. The ADE is different from other types of position-based encoders in that it utilizes light emitting diode technology, which provides a frictionless non-contact form of encoding. With this technology, contact pads, slide wires and load fire spring mechanisms are no longer required, eliminating dashed readings found in other position based encoders. The use of LED technology in the ADE increases performance and reliability of the encoder.
